Project Overview
California State University contracted IPW to help restore and waterproof the 1100,000 square foot parking area and rooftop on the Floyd R. Simpson Memorial Tower with a protective polyurea coating that can withstand vehicular and pedestrian wear and tear.
Application
IPW used Freedom Chemical’s Guardian-Deck to provide long-lasting protection for the high-traffic area of the parking lot. Once the surface was prepped, the team began by applying Freedom Chemical’s Freedom Tuff 6160 epoxy primer, in combination with Freedom Tuff 1095 tape for joints and cracks. Next, FreedomTuff 2190 polyurea was applied to provide a durable surface layer. The polyurea was then overcoated with Freedom Tuff 4300 aromatic polyurethane with 16/30 full broadcast aggregate, which was used as a protective and waterproof coating for abrasion resistance. The system was completed with the application of Freedom Tuff 4000 Polyaspartic topcoat.
Results
IPW’s expertise in polyurea system application resulted in an efficient restoration of the GreenLee plaza deck, ensuring the safety and durability of the surface for years to come.
