Project Overview
The Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California, is a popular destination for arts and cultural experiences, as well as public and private events. Their beautiful campus features various sculptures and water features, including the two IPW was contracted to recoat and protect. Hosting thousands of guests for performances, a fast return to service was critical as events are prescheduled.
Application
Once the two water features were drained and cleaned, the crew began the process of applying a protective coating to the 10,400 sq ft of concrete. The process began with FreedTuff 6160 Primer, an epoxy primer, followed by an instant-setting, two-component spray-applied FreedomTuff 2216 Polyurea. The coatings have no noxious odors and form a monolithic, seamless membrane, which is ideal for public-facing water features.
Results
IPW’s expert application created a durable waterproof barrier to protect the concrete water features for years to come. The project was efficiently and safely executed, resulting in minimal downtime.
