Project Overview
In October 2019, the West Hollywood Gateway Mall in Los Angeles faced a major challenge: the busy loading dock for Semi truck deliveries was leaking into the occupied spaces below. The property required a long-lasting, heavy-duty coating system for the 48,000 sq ft area that could prevent water intrusion while withstanding relentless daily use.
Application
FreedomTuff’s GuardianDeck™ system was selected for its unmatched strength in high-traffic environments. The process began with concrete preparation that included removing old coating followed by shotblasting,.After all prep and sealants were completed a primer was applied using FT-6160 epoxy at 10-12 mils with a light sand broadcast. Next, 64 mils of FT-2190 Polyurea were applied, followed by 24 mils of FT-4300 Polyurethane with 16/30 aggregate broadcasted into wet coating to refusal. To reinforce the loading docks, drive lanes and turning radii received a double application of FT-4300 with broadcast. The system was completed with the application of FT-4000 Aliphatic Topcoat at 16 mils DFT, This system has provided a durable, color-stable waterproofing membrane designed to perform under years of constant use.
Results
The newly coated loading dock was enhanced in both appearance and durability, featuring superior moisture resistance and providing a finish built to withstand the area’s consistant stream of deliveries and trash removal for years to come.
